Abruzzo is one of the most unique regions of Italy in that it remains unspoiled both in its stunning mountainous landscapes and its culture; traveling here is like taking a trip back in time. Encompassing three national parks and multiple coastal regions, this corner of Italy has it all for the outdoor enthusiast.

On this trip, you will ride a route that has become popularized over the years as a bucket list trip for bike packers traveling from around the world to experience this beautiful region in a unique way.

You will complete the ride in four days with full support. This trip features a rugged and beautiful historical route, Medieval hilltop towns, tall mountain passes, castles, wildlife, and amazing food and drink to replenish you for the next day's adventure!

On the final night, as a cherry on top, you will return to Rome, where you will enjoy the eternal city, experience its vast history, and celebrate the feat you just accomplished!

Upon arrival, we will help you settle into your accommodation in Tivoli while we build your bikes. You will have the option to explore the small town on foot. That afternoon, we will do a short and easy ride to ensure the equipment is working properly. In the evening, we will eat and rest for the days ahead.

On our first full day, we will ride past the Roman Amphitheatre of Amiternum. This was the site of a theater built in the first century BC and an amphitheater built in the first century AD. After visiting the site, we will continue onto Santo Stefano di Sessanio, a classic medieval town, where we will settle into our accommodation for the evening.

We will ride south today, immediately being treated to Rocca Calascio within the first five miles. This castle was voted as one of the most beautiful in the world by National Geographic. It is the highest fortress in the Apennines, sitting at around 5,000 feet. After our day's ride, we will roll into Caramanico Terme to spend the night.

Today's ride will allow us to warm up quickly with an approximately 10-mile climb to Passo San Leonardo (4200 feet) in the Majella Massif. We will continue on through the Majella National Park to Lago di Barreara where we will spend the evening with lake views at our hotel.

On our final full day, we will ride back north to the start of the route through the National Park of Abruzzo, the oldest in the Apennine Mountains. Upon finishing, we will travel to Rome, where you will settle into a hotel at the footsteps of the Pantheon. That evening, you will enjoy a delicious Roman dinner and, afterward, a passeggiata, or walk around the city.
